New model Blackhawk Convertable .357/.9mm

I just just purchased this pistol it is a SS .357/.9mm with box and manual. The pistol shoots very accurate with the .357/.38, it has the 6 1/2 barrel, I am having trouble finding any information in books, one book says they only made 300 of these the Ser# is 36-106XX, can someone help me with the I.D.ing my new toy. Also the 9mm shoots pretty well also, and is cheap to shoot.

Some distributor did an exclusive run of these about a year ago. I picked up one with the 4 5/8" barrel, but they made some 6.5" also. There is usually a few on Gunbroker. My serial number is 38-060XX

I found that jacketed 9mm shoots pretty well, too.
But, if you can get some lead 9mm ammo, I expect you'll find, as I did, the 9mm can be as accurate as the others.

I paid $420.00 at the Gun show at Washington Arms Collectors. I fired about 35 rounds of .357 and about 20 .38's Very accurate and 75 rounds of 9mm remingtons, point of impact really not that much different between the 9's and .38's the .357 does rule for accuracy which was no surprise, I fired one of my uncles "Bear Loads" and my vision blurred wow what a blast, but I don't think I would notice it if a Bear was coming at me, anyway It was fun to shoot, but heavy.

Not a bad price at all... I paid rite at $600 after transfer and all was done from a ffl member on here.

Your gun probably did not leave the factory as a convertible originally. You would need to call the factory to confirm that though.
The original batch 300 KBN-36X were made in 1975 and are in the 32-5xxxx range. These were made in error by an employee who thought we was cutting the 9mm cylinders out of 4141 Chrome moly steel. Well, they didn't take a blue!
And then William's shooters Supply came out with the exlusive on the latest production KBN-34X and KBN-36X. These all begin with a 38- prefix.
It has been verified however that there were a few stainless 9mm cylinders still at the factory. A person could apparently send their stainless Blackhawk in and have it fitted with one of those cylinders, but again...the gun would not be original as leaving the factory "the first time" with that cylinder...so non original feature. I think that may be the case of your gun.
But, give the factory a call and see what say them. :)
If it turns out to be KBN-36X, be sure to let us know here on the forum! You would have a very rare gun!!

You are correct the gun was made in June 1982, and was originally sent as .357 and a year later was sent back to the Factory and had the 9MM fitted. Ruger had all the information at thanks everyone.
