central, pa,
Saturday, my wife purchased a ruger 22/45 LITE, the blue one. We went to our camp and shot it Saturday afternoon. My question is, the slide release, when the slide is locked back and a loaded magazine in. pulling on the slide will not release it? we had to use the slide release button everytime, is this normal on the 22/45? I have a few rugers, but this is the 1st 22/45 I have any experience with.

I was considering one of these for my daughter because of the weight, do you mean to say the slingshot method to let the bolt go forward into battery won't work on the 22/45? Is this all Mark III's or just the 22/45? I only have Mark II's.

For about 100.00 tandemcross will send you all the parts you need to finish what ruger screwed up. LCI trash new firing pin, extractor , and your mags will fall right out.

Here is a video for the mod.
Kevin, my MKIII that is almost 4 years old slingshots without being modified.

thanks for all the help. she is disappointed that it doesn't slingshot. so the mods maybe in order.

You really don't need to spend anything to get the "bolt" to sling-shot" forward. All you need to do is to remove the detent and spring in the bolt stop assembly, in the thumb button. Then, when you pull the bolt back, gravity will take over and allow the bolt stop to drop down and the bolt can then be left to fly forward. Now, I'm sure there will be a "negative nancy" that comes along and says "that doesn't work so good all the time".

Well, if the bolt stop doesn't drop down, of its own weight, here's why that happens.

Check to see which side of the rear end of the bolt stop assembly is rubbing on either wall in the space where it resides. When you determine which side is rubbing, remove the bolt stop assembly and use a smooth-cut file and take a few swipes of metal off the side that's rubbing. Simple, simple, fix, and you won't need to line anyone's pockets, when they could have shown you the same method, for FREE.
