need help with scope rings M77

Looking to scope my new to me but older (1976) M77 25-06 with a nice scope.New to Rugers and wonder if I need #4 and #5 rings or what. Previous owner did some crazy stuff to scope base and D&T'd it for Weaver rings. Maybe in order to get scope high enuff so it wouldn't touch top of barrel. Anyway I would like to put it back normal and need some advice. Thanks :?:

Can you post a picture of the M77 in question? Ruger made some M77s in "Round Top" configuration. They did not come with or take Ruger rings, they were D&T for after market mounts/rings. You may have a M77 Round Top.

I recently got untangled (thanks again picketpin ) on my mid 70's 77's. They are Roundtops that do not use the Ruger integrated rings, but rather are D&T for 1 or 2 piece Rem 700 type bases that use same height rings.

OK Thanks guys I think I got it figgered out.Seems like it is a 77R and with the help of the link in know what rings to get.Previous owner practiced D&T on the top so he could use what he had or whatever.Kinda wierd but Ill put pics up when I can
