Need help from a Colt collector

Today I opened a box that has followed me around through a dozen moves, probably last opened in Colorado in the early 80's. I found a cloth bag containing 10 rounds of old .32 caliber ammo; one balloon head WRA .32 S&W round and nine slightly longer rounds headstamped REM-UMC 32-7.65 m/m.

But what is interesting is the cloth bag they were in, stamped "FROM COLT'S Patent Fire Arms Mfg. Co. HARTFORD, CONN."

I know if this was a Ruger cloth parts bag from the 1950's, there would be a lot of collector interest. But I don't know much about Colt stuff. I don't recall anything about it - not even owning it in the first place! I suspect the ammo was not the original contents, probably used to ship parts in like Ruger did, but this may be older than the Ruger bags :?:

Anyone know anything about these?

Someone over at Coltforum.com should be able to help. I've seen simiar bags from Kimber (not so large) from the 90's.

I don't know a darned thing about this Colt bag,, but it looks a lot like a Ruger parts bag.

Thanks for posting the pic of the Ruger bag, flatgate. I have never seen a Ruger one in person, only in the books. The pic in JD's Ruger P&R shows three of them, one of which is new enough to have a zip code on the address.

Jussbad, we have a 3-way deal, I sent you an email. Guy on the Colt forum is buying my Colt bag for same price you are selling me the Ruger bag, so it is a zero-sum deal for me and I couldn't be happier

FWIW, the USPS began using zip codes July 1, 1963. 8)
