Picked this up a couple of weeks ago, as part of the adventures I wrote about previously. It's a 1989 model Colt Gold Cup National Match.

I realize not everyone is going to be crazy about the grips. It came with a Pachmayr rubber grip on it, and I found a little surface rust under it, so wanted to put some wood on there to breathe, at least for a while. I had these kicking around and now they're starting to grow on me...

My whole little 1911 family:

And my favorite shot of the day, despite the tight crop at the top:

Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail and the BladeForum.com 2009 commemorative knife.

I guess I'm hooked. Even guns that are much lighter don't "carry" as well for me as a 1911. They fit my hand. The trigger acts the same way every time. They're sleek and elegant. Who could ask for more?

Now I just hope Ruger doesn't release one, or I'll have something else to buy...

That's a beauty YS. I'd be very proud of that.

Nice family shot too.

I think the Lamo Camo grip panels are great. But, you are right, they will draw opinions. They are pretty snazzy with the blued Colt, imo.

Very nice, beautiful Gold Cup! Looks like you bobbed the hammer as you were talking about earlier. All you need to do now is lose those ugly plywood grips and put some nice checkered walnuts on it.

Nice!! I share your views on the 1911 - I like my Rugers and other single/double actions, but to carry around the 1911 is hard to beat.

Nice collection of 1911's. I love them as well - I'm down to 4 in my stash, but next to my Ruger SA's, they are tops.

How do you like your CBOB? I have 3 Dan Wesson 1911's (Valor, CCO, and CBOB) and I think they are a cut above others I have owned.

Nope, not yet. It does have polished sides, like the trigger, though.

Thanks! I love the CBOB. Tightest slide to frame fit I've ever seen, much less owned. Very well finished. Unfortunately (?), they dropped the CBOB in favor of the 50% more expensive VBOB this year. It's amazing how expensive 1911s have become, and that's not even getting into the Browns, Nighthawks, Baers, Wilsons, etc. Then again, that's why we have RIAs, Dalys, etc.
