Dig this beastie thing and cannot wait to shoot it! So far, the only 44 maggie in the bunch....Super Blackhawk, unfluted, brushed stainless with a high polished stainless birdshead gripframe and a 4 5/8" barrel.

Thanks a bunch, guys. I have only some 44 special loads worked up for it as of now but, yeah, I wanna push some heavy metal out of it soon, when this weather breaks. :)

Load data:

Sierra 8605 Tournament Master

44 Caliber, 220 Grain Full Profile Jacket Bullet

7.5 grains Unique powder.

Not sure about the primers. Whatever was handy.

Loaded by Fred "Chin" Schroeder of Lakeside, AZ early in 2010

Should produce 800-825 fps through a 6.5" barrel but I have not put a chrony on these loads or shot them from my 4 5/8" barrel. They are quite accurate from the 6.5" S&W's, however.

You're right Joe....but I got the blues, too ;)

gunsbam69, bedrockfred hooked me up with these, too, in the deal. The story goes, he sent this grip frame off to TILLANDERGUNGRIPS DOT COM, Hogansville, GA 30230. This gentleman made them and fit them to this frame and added the emblems....I was smitten from the first time I saw em. Figured, they had to come home with me, too.

EDIT: MY BAD, swindler1 IS THE FINE CRAFTSMAN BEHIND THESE GRIPS.

Nice gun, good job, and the grips are awesome, my ONLY comment as to the "finished product" to match the "smooth lines of the cylinder, I'd remove the 'warning 'on the barrel to make it ALL "match up", but that's just me, and for me it would be very easy to do...........

Thank you, guys! Glad you all enjoyed the view, :) Yeah, I definitely want to do some polishing/finishing to the rest of the pistol, rugerguy. In my head, I am picturing what you were suggesting as well as one of the half-moon shaped ejector rods, if possible and maybe some kind of fancy gold bead front sight or....? The fun is in the dreamin for now, got other projects I am tinkerin with with other pistols that require time and funds and it looks like the wife might get laid off from her job soon so I need to slow down a bit with outsourcing and muster up the courage to do more of my own, "in-house" work. :)

Thanks again for the kind words, all.

Thanks for the info. I really like them, and how fitting to have birdseye maple on a birdshead

to all who looked at this post, the birds eye grips were made by Swindler1. and are some of the finest grips I've had made! and I will have to have him make me another set, because this is my first case of sellers remorse!_--bedrockfred

  DOH! Sorry swindler1, I was confused, ol bedrockfred has too many guns n grips, lol.

They are absolutely top shelf, for sure! Thanks again, brother!

Nicely done, beautiful job! My only question, never having shot a handgun with birds head grips, how do those grips handle the recoil of a heavy 44 load?

Thank you, tuner. That is a very good question. One that I should be able to answer in a couple weeks when I get back from a camping trip up in northern AZ. I don't know how heavy the loads we'll have in camp will be just yet but will make a note of them and how it handled when I get back.
