My first double-action Ruger purchase

I don't know if this is the correct subforum for this but I recently got my first Ruger double-action revolver, a "Speed Six" in 357 Magnum, made in 1982.
After all was said and done, it came out to around $600 out the door. Don't know if that's a good price. Came with the original box and papers, and a pair of vintage Pachmayrs.
All of my Rugers (till now) are single-actions.

Great score! I bought a stainless Speed Six 2.75" .357 in 1983. Shot and carried a lot, still have it and carry it sometimes. Wouldn't dream of parting with it.

Great choice for a first Ruger DA revolver & beautiful Speed Six. Good price. Take a look at the Security Six & Service Sixes also as many people feel they're the best DA revolvers Ruger ever made.

You did great! The Speed Six with the 4" barrel is not that common, less so with the H barrel. I have a fairly extensive collection of the -Six DAs, but I don't have a SS-34H. I have a consecutive pair of the same in stainless, but in .38 Special, model GS-84H. And .357 Mag SS-34 guns without the H.

Most Speed Sixes will be found with the 2.75" barrel since the round butt was meant for easier concealment and the short barrel lent itself to that as well. I think Ruger's thinking, when trying to make their mark in LE weaponry, was that the Police Service Six was targeted toward uniformed duty, the Speed Six toward plain clothes, and the adjustable sight Security Six toward civilian sporting/target use.
