I picked up a number 1B made in 1985 and chambered for the 7MM Rem Mag with a 2.5 X 8 power Bausch & Lomb. The gun shows little wear and has an excellent trigger, it fits me well and I find it comfortable. I really don't have any experience with the #1 Rugers other than shooting a few once or twice and listening to what others had to say about them. With the guns I have kept over the years (because I liked them) with magnification in this range I expect to shoot right at an inch (maybe a little over maybe a little under) even if the gun is proven to shoot much better I will still shoot around an inch. I had a problem finding brass but did find 2 boxes of 150 Gr. Remington Core Lokt psp so thats what I used. Temp was 9 degrees above with a mild breeze, took 4 shots to get zeroed and fired (2) 3 shot groups, the 1st going just over an inch and the second just under an inch. I am very pleased with the gun and really hoped I could stay under 2" with it which it easily did. I also found the lack of recoil to be rather pleasant. I can see why people take a liking to these guns they really are nice guns. :)

Suggestion only, but if you go on Ruger's web site and you will find complete video on how to disassemble/reassemble your rifle. Not that you would want or need to do that, but interesting to see just how it is put together. Again, just a suggestion.
