I bed you would have a good time if you showed up at a SASS shooting out. (Single Action Shooting Society) I'm sure they have them in your area. They use 2 handguns, a rifle and a shotgun. All need to be historically accurate, and shoot pistol cartridges, 38, 44 Special, 45 Colt, 44-40 and such. Your 73 would work. I used a SXS shotgun. Once you are "equipped" it's still expensive. Ones I've been to would run through 150-200 rounds of pistol cartridges and a box or two of shotgun shells (typically low base). And a period costume with hat and boots. :)
