I'm in the market for a Mini-30, but when doing my research, I saw that you can't mount a rail on it without drilling holes, but it has spots for scope rings.

Are there any rails available (preferable Picatinny) that can be attached via the scope ring mounts (as opposed to screws?)

Thanks. Bruce

GG&G offers two options:

If you are in the market for a new Mini-30 they are now shipping factory Drilled and tapped if I'm not mistaken. They also come with a pic rail. If you are considering an older rifle there are several quality forward mounts in addition to the standard receiver mounted setups mentioned above.

I'm perty-sure that you are right about the D&T thing but I'm not so sure that all models of the "30" will actualy come with the rail.
I say that because my new (582-) Mini-14 Ranch version (read that as blued 'n wood) was D&T'd for the rail also, but came with only scope rings, a chamber flag, a pad lock and a single 5-rd mag. What I'm getting at is that from looking at the Ruger website, what assesories you get with the gun depends on which specific model number you opt for......but....I got's a dollar that says they are all being D&T'd.

A call to Ruger would tell ya for sure.

I chose an Ultimak Scout Mount with a slightly raised rail for iron sight see-through ability, and also a single Warne Quick-Detach ring. Both setups allow for iron sight options in addition to the mounted red dot sights, as well as bolt removal without losing zero...;)
