Today is the second Tuesday in the month of May, the time our church has their Senior Saints lunch. (I know y'all find it hard to believe, but I am a Senior citizen.) I was changing my clothes this morning, and putting on one of my better pair of boots. As I sat down, I turned the boot upside down and noticed the logo printed on the heel, "Dan Post-El Paso" proudly displayed. There was a little wear of the pattern around the logo, but the logo was still sharp.
I mused on that a little bit. A couple of years back I contacted Dan Post and then they told me Dan Post had not made boots in El Paso, Texas in eleven years! So this pair must be around fifteen years old!
I've had one pair of Dan Post boots since these, made in Mexico, and they did make it a full year before coming apart. A shame, as I've worn Dan Post boots for many years, I think ever since I became too "mature" for the old Acme boots.
I held the boot up, and observed the foot and leg, still good leather, seams still solid. The leather still shines from my many years of polishing and care.
Fortunately, my Tony Lama boots still bear the El Paso identification. Hopefully, President Trump will achieve his goal of providing jobs for Americans, and once again boots will bear the stamp of "El Paso Texas, USA."
