Another bit of my childhood is gone. Kevin Corcoran just died from a cancer. He was survived by his wife of 43 years so he was obviously not one of the TV kids who go on to live miserable lives.

The movie, "Old Yeller". Corcoran played the little brother. Gifted child actor.

He was one of my favorites. Besides those mentioned, he was in Pollyanna and my favorite Toby Tyler. He was also in the sequel to Old Yeller, called Savage Sam with Brian Keith. Swiss Family Robinson was also a great one he was in.

Rumrunner; Thanks for that. You just solved a old mystery. In early 1965 I was a guard at Universal Studio`s. I was working "The rare breed". Brian Keith was in the movie. I had met Jimmy Stewart and Maureen O'Hara but I didn't see Keith.
I asked a electrician or stage hand wasn't Brian Keith suppose to be here? He said I just seen you talking to him for the last ten minuet`s! I had been BS`ing with what I thought was a extra and hadn't recognized him as Keith! Later I seen Keith and we had a good laugh over it. That led to more conversation and I told Keith I had a widow girl friend back east who by chance had a son she named Brian Keith. (Keith was his middle name). The next day Brian seen me and gave me a nice large photograph of himself and the dog that played "Old Yeller". He had autographed the picture and also a small personal note with it as the boy at that time was about 4 years old. I was confused at the time as I knew Keith wasn't in the movie "Old Yeller" but didn't know until just now that he was in the sequel, "Savage Sam"!
I was on the out`s with Brian`s mother and had just left her and went west. I did mail his grandmother the picture for him. End of story, but thanks!

Hey Bill, I read the book "Savage Sam" in Jr High School and saw the movie when it came out. When I lived in California I would go to the Disney stores and ask if they had the movie. Every one said there was no sequel to Old Yeller. Finally I found it in VHS on Ebay and then years later I got a double DVD with both movies. Not as good as Old Yeller but still a great watch. Arliss, his brother, and the Searcy girl get captured by injuns. Corcoran gives one of the braves a rough go of it.

Thanks! I posted the story on another site years ago and got some static as some guy come back with they weren't together. I wondered about it as Keith either told me the dog with their heads together was Old Yeller or else signed the dog`s name alongside his. When I first seen Keith he was pretty fierce looking with a bright red beard. We chewed the fat for a little while and I heard a couple of other guys comment after he walked off, "I would hate to meet that one in a dark alley! They hadn't recognized him either. Latter we had a good laugh over it. He was a nice guy. I had never hit him up for it, he just gave it to me the next day. Also I recall Jimmy Stewart buying my lunch. Maureen ignored me. It was a fun job but I moved over to Lockheed as a guard for another 35 years. Actually through the years I worked with a pretty good number of ex movie studio guards. There were a number of studio`s near Lockheed Burbank. At least a half dozen of us had worked the studio`s. Went from guarding actors to test pilots----and peon`s. I shoulda went to night school.
lol. I always liked Brian Kieth. You would definitely want him on YOUR side in a dark alley.
