Hey all,
I've been looking around for a while now and can't seem to find a good looking muzzle brake for my mini 14.
I have a 181 series rifle and do not wish to replace the front sight, but am willing to have the barrel threaded if needed.
I've been admiring pretty much anything anybody has ever thrown on the end of an m14 (including supressors... but that area of the hobby would be a little too expensive)

check Brownells, I picked up one for my 181 that slips around the front sight just remove and re-insert the pin. i think mine was a John Martsen, (spelling??) works awesome and about $15.00

This is the one I have...I don't remember who made it...

tapped out original roll pin, slipped right on and replaced the roll pin then off to the range.

If that's the look your after, this is the part that you need. You'll have to remove your front sight, which can be replaced at anytime in the future.

I went a little further by shortening the barrel and permanently attaching the Choate unit for an overall barrel length of 16 1/2".

Haha, perfect thanks.
By the way your Mini looks awesome!

Now any ideas for a rear sight (M1 garand style?)
something like this

Might try one of these and see if one suits your fancy;

Good luck in your search, that's half the fun!

I've never been a fan of the "slip on" or pin brakes/hiders, just don't look right.

I had Accuracy Systems fiddle with my Mini 14 and thread the barrrel. I presently use an AAC single chamber. The "Effin A" and Nordic both look and work well as does the PRI.

does that thing work pretty well for reducing the muzzle jump?

Innovative industries in Warren MI. has the slip on m-14 type for around $18.00. They actually look great. I have one on my 181 mini.

You also should check the Mo Reaper available through Sunflower Outdoor Sports. The muzzle break comes in Stainless and Blued, that matches your rifle

Accuracy Systems offer a good selection of muzzle breaks. You may want to check out their website
