mklll 22/45 problem

just picked up 1 froma guy that said he took it apart to cleanit.put it back to gether and it wouldnt fire or come back apart. gave him 50 bucks for it figured i couldnt go wrong. well ive tried everything i know and sure enough cannot get it back apart.bolt with come back bout half way aget tight then come on back.but wont cycle forward with messing withit some .mags are tough to get out after fully insert. any suggestions for dis assembly/

It will probably require the pins to be knocked out to make it fall apart inside. It is risky on the 22/45's because the plastic can break.

Best bet would be to send it to Ruger. If you were local I would take a crack at it and could probably get it apart, but trying to type up the "processes" would be rough.

You tried slamming the muzzle forward? Give it a good jolt into the floor (carpeted).

A friend had the same thing happen and I found a website that had all kinds of MKIII tips and that one worked.

while trying to get the mainspring out and down i notice that the rear of the reciever is moving a bit . mainspring will only come out about 1/2 inch .never encountered this with my mk 1 and 2

If you can get the hammer to go forward, which probably requires getting a mag in it, holding the trigger back and muzzle slamming it; then rehook the hammer strut in the MSH, you should be able to get it apart.

i can get a mag in but it gets sticky less than half way and have to dig it out .there is no getting the hammer to drop ,thought of everything and tried all the cures.short of popin the pins. take another fresh look at it in the morn.if it wasnt the 45 be alot easier to get to the problem i think

I think your problem is the hammer strutt isn't in the slot in the latch. Unlock the latch and pull it out then tilt the gun up and put it back this should put the strutt in the proper slot in the latch. The strutt being out of place will lock the bolt to where it doesn't work.

thanx all .got er up and runnin.jus applied alittle well placed taps with a rawhide mallet around the reciever and alittle twisting with leather wrapped channel locks and , she came apart.dont know what was binding up the hammer but she broke free.just had to go about it with a clear head .have a feelin it'll go down the road in the future will stick with my old MK l

Sounds like the trigger is stuck in the rear position a good knock on carpet flooring will do the trick as mentioned in an earlier post.
