I am looking for an upgrade to the plastic grips on this gun like the hogue rubber grips I see for the standard MkII but see no way to attach anything. Has anyone come up with an aftermarket grip that will accomplish this?

Specter:
Hey, welcome to the forum. There is a lot of info about the grips for 22/45. Try searching for older threads.

I don't have that model but know Ruger started making an adjustable grip model that makes it easier to switch standard 1911 grips if you want.

If you have the older style 22/45 there are some step by step pictorials on the internet that shows how to modify your grip frame. It involves grinding down the grip frame and drilling a couple holes for the new grips.

The MKII does not have replacable grip panels.
Many folks add a slip over grip from Hogue to give them a different feel.
Or, some folks have modified their guns as mentioned above.

The MKIII has a model with replacable grips.

Just as I figured. I've seen the slip on rubber grips and that might be the way to go without modifying the gun. It just makes for an extra step when taking the gun apart.

Here's a picture of a mod I had done on my MKIII 22/45. The grips are standard 1911 grips. The mod required grinding the old grips off and gluing bushings in to fit the 1911 style grips. The guy who does this is on the rimfirecentral forum. Search for Kingshouse41225. It takes a while but his price is quite reasonable and the quality of the work is outstanding.

I got my grip replacement kit from Tech Custom, http://www.tech-custom.com/... You need to be a little bit handy and careful but they do work great.
