Mk II Question

I have a friend that needs to replace the barrel on his MkII pistol.He has located a barrel from a Mk III that is similar to the one he has on his gun and the price is reasonable.The question is,will a Mk III barrel fit the frame of a Mk II pistol or should he just bite the bullet and send it back to Ruger for repairs?

He forgot to replace the fireing pin stop after cleaning and the fireing pin gouged the rear of the chamber.I don't know how long the pin has been missing(he's had the gun for about 10 yrs.),but now when you fire the pistol the shell case seperates just forward of the rim.

Can't answer the question but I am curious as to how he hurt a MkII barrel.

He doesn't need to replace the barrel just use a rimfire chamber iron to press out the dent. Once the iron is used the cases will seat properly and not split. Midway and Brownells carries them for about $20.

Bullseye is correct. A relatively easy fix. This problem has been addressed previously, either here or elsewhere. A google search should find the link.

Or, your friend could go with a PacLite barrell.

Guess I learn something everyday.
I thought the MK11 had a fireing pin stop so that wouldn't happen.
