MK I Receiver swop

Well just was given a old MKI and the front site is nocked off and the bore is rusted up.

So thats what brings me here.

Can I put a receiver from a newer MKII /III on the grip assembly (it rust to but not as bad as the barrel)? I found one on GB for $75 my FFL charges $20 so it would be a project gun but can it be done.

I ASK YOU CAN IT BE DONE? {Say it like Capt Kirk}

It has been done many times. Sometimes the fit isn't as "tight" or perfect as we'd like. But in general, yes you can swap around recievers & gripframes.

Yes, but use the bolt from your Mark I in the newer receiver because you want the thumb safety hold-open feature in your Mark I. The newer bolt doesn't have the slot cut into it for the Mark I's safety/bolt catch lever.
