MK I difficult to cock

Bought a 1977 Mark I at a gunshow recently. Nice gun, performs great however it takes a lot of effort to cock it. I have disassembled, cleaned, and oiled it 4 times (after each use) with no improvement. Maybe this is how it is supposed to be, but I doubt it. Any input would be great!

Try putting some oil down in the mainspring housing were the hammer strut goes in it.. Not too much just 3-4 small drops then reinstall & pull the bolt back several times to distribute the oil into the housing & it's spring..
At the bottom of the housing there's a ball that the latch works against you might also try oiling it a bit there too..

try turning the recoil spring over... the one attached to the bolt. the front part your cant turn over, but the rear part with the ears you can... I had a similar issue that was fixed by doing that... if that solves it, replace the spring....

From my POV, most all the Marks and even the Standards have a very stout spring pull till they are well worn-in. If junker is not familiar with the model it could be nothing. I'm also not a big fan of
any oil accumulation on any parts of the .22 pistols as it tends to accumulate lead and unburnt powder. After a thorough cleaning I Breakfree CLP all parts and then wipe to remove any excess, almost dry.
