Hi, new here and I have a build question. i have a MK III competition and really love shooting it. What a really great fun gun and can we say accurate! Shoots better than me for sure.
Question is, I tend to take the kids hiking some and we do some camping as well here in the PNW when weather permits. I was wondering about building a MK to "lighten" things up a bit. I know I could buy another MK and add a Pac Lite upper and that would be a major improvement for carrying but was wondering about a Volquarstn (sp?) lower to help cut some weight. I am not a huge fan of the 22/45 frame or would just go that route. The kids are younger and I would like them to also shoot as they would too. Would this be too light? lower weighs about 4.5 oz & the upper is about 7 oz (4.5 threaded) call it a 12-15 oz gun with all the internals. Cost is somewhat of a factor, this would run close to $700.00 completed so I would hate to not like it after completion. Too light is my question as I know it would not really be meant for defense but could be a deterrent for those rare occasions.
