MK-514 question...

I have looked thru the Reference of Ruger Firearms (pocket edition #2) and I do not see much information on the MK-514 model target pistol, I am looking at picking up a blued version and am wondering what the rarity/value is of this model. Unfortunately, I do not have the serial number yet, hope to by end of next week.

Any information/advice would be appreciated. It has a grey plastic case without model sticker but the shipping box is gone, it is also missing the owner's manual.

Not rare but scarce as you do not see many for sale. MK514 NIB prices at auction I see bring around $500 or so. KMK514 NIB $600 or so. I have given between $325 to $600 in the last 2 years for mine. Here's may latest one I picked up NIB for $410 shipped. Did not need it but could not pass at that price.

I have 4 mklls and this model is probably my favorite. Mine is a great shooter and makes a good field gun. If I had to pick just one this would be it.

As I have noted earlier and elsewhere, this model should have never been periodically removed from the lineup, once it was announced and offered some 60+ years ago :!:

I have a KMK514 in my personal collection. It is one of my favorites for point-ability and overall comfort.

Have one of the Mk. II retro ones, bought new circa '93 or so. First saw one of the originals back around 1959 or so and always liked it. Actually haven't used it all that much, but recently dusted it off and am in the process of fitting up an original type of sight to replace the scary undercut one. Had it out a few days ago and had forgotten how good the balance is. The trigger isn't quite up to a Volquartsen but not half bad. Probably one of the best iterations of the gun.

Nice guns. I have a couple 22/45 stainless 5 1/4" pistols and have taken many jackbunnies and vermin with them. Balance and accuracy are very good with the heavier-taper barrel, and I don't know why they discontinued them and not the tiny taper barreled guns. They are superior for my hands wit the 22/45 grip.

Not rare but not as common as the other tapered barrels. A great field gun in any case.

I have the blued version, and it's one of my favorites to shoot on a regular basis. Currently I'm doing some chronograph measuring of .22 rimfire ballistics from the Ruger Mark pistols and this one is waiting on the bench for it's turn.

It would be welcome here, and treated just as good as you have treated it. It looks extremely healthy.
