Apparently it would. They tried to get such a thing to market back in the '80s. It was called the XGI and it just didn't work out.
I'd rather see them make an affordably priced M14 clone. How cool would that be in stainless, too? They're making AR-15s and 1911s, so why not?

If I'm not mistaken they had an experimental 243 as well. It sold on GB for an amazing amount of money.

I would love to see them make some more pistol caliber rifles again besides the 77/357 and the 77/44.
I'm thinking a lever-action in 30carbine, 357, 41 and 44mag.
And a Mini or Deerfield in 30carbine, 357, 41, and 44mag.
We can dream can't we?? Sometimes we get what we want, like a 357 bolt gun, a 44 special Flattop, and an 8-shot 22LR SP-101. 8) 8)
