I picked up an interesting Ruger today, a stainless/synthetic Mini 14 Ranch in .222 Rem. I knew that Ruger had offered these in the past, but this one looks to be from 2016. Where these some sort of "special" order run through one of the distributors, and any ideas on a total number of rifles manufactured? Model number is 05823, and the catalog number is KM-14/59/222. Rifle looks to be in like new condition, complete with box and papers....I'll post a few pics tomorrow.

How uncommon are these rifles in .222?

I have never seen one and I am a big fan of the Mini14 , I read most were made for foreign govt,s and police . Good find for sure !!

I’d guess pretty UN-common but Chet15 will know for sure.

Please include a picture of the box end label too!

I have the same rifle as well as several Hawkeye stainless rifles in 222. I heard the same story they were made for overseas dales.

What's the going rate on one of the .222 Mini 14's.
I have a source for one.
Jason I understand if you don't want to post the price on here.
PM maybe:)?
Thanks

Ruger told me @ 3000 made 1984-1987 with @ 10% stayed in the states. Which Ruger said some probably made it back to the states. Otherwise they were sold to countries where civilians couldn't own the same caliber as their military.

I have never seen 1 in stainless with polymer stock. I do own a blued with wood and stainless in wood, both NIB.

I'm interested to buy it

I have a recent one like this also. Unfired in the factory box like this one. I heard this latest run was made for a contract for export to France. A small percentage were held back and made available through Davidsons, for American collectors. Maybe 250 -300.

I was really asleep at the wheel one day about 15 years ago …… passed one one of these in the $450 range.
No clue what my problem was …. Maybe didnt want to spend the money or didnt know how scarce they were or just not into rifles yet ~ ? ? ? ~. No clue. :(

I seem to have more regrets about stuff I PASSED than guns I sold.

The gun that is the subject of this post is a New Mini. Heard they made a batch, but believe these are made as a result of ongoing small contracts that come to Ruger from time to time.
Nice snag!!

the first ones back in the mid 80s were indeed for ovrseas when Ruger lost the contract to Colt for "non Nato caliber" I believe it was for France,,,the one pictured above is a much later ,newer version, with the fiber stock etc,,,I'd bet it was again for a overseas contract and left over??? Chad would have to come up with better details on this newer version.....all of mine were from back in the 180 thru 188 series and I have NO more....sold them all ,,,,,mainly because we are left handed...:rolleyes:;)

not really,. kept my MI carbine (WWII) and M-1 Garand (Korean War) vintage...(y)(y)

Hittman no worries, I sold my Mini factory folder for that years ago....:p

.222 is my favorite center fire caliber. Always on the lookout for a Mini-14 in it w/o breaking the bank.

Have had 2. Paid 300 for the first one. Not very accurate. Won’t shoot with a bolt gun. I thought a 222 would out shoot a 223 but did not. At least with the 2 that I had.

Never fired a .222 or .223 in a semi automatic so can't compare. Have 3 .222 bolt: 2 Savage 340B and a Remington 722 along with a NEF .223 bull barrel. At 200 yards there isn't much difference between them. Had .222 and .223 13 inch bull barrels for my T/C Contender for over 20 years. On any given day at 100 yards again not much difference between them.

I’ve got a .222 barrel and Leupold scope for a late 70s TC Contender. Smooth as silk.

Sounds like yours was one of the first runs with wooden stock . What year is yours from ?

I think the one I saw way-back-when was stainless in wood including the upper hand guard.

This is my first post on an old conversation. I have a stainless synthetic Mini 14 in 222. According to the girl at the factory it was made in Sept. 2017. I would like an approx. value on it. I joined to post on here and I am a huge Ruger Fan. Thanks, ( If I violate any Etiquette on here let me know. )

My favorite center fire round. Hard to find. Always the most expensive mini 14. Guns.com has one for sale in that configuration for $1236.99.
