Looking for opinions on which I should buy after the holidays. I don't want an AR so with my love of Rugers a Mini 14 would suit my needs, but from the research I have done the Mini 30 packs a little more punch with the 762x35 being a little cheaper than 223. Problem is not really the cost of ammo but the availability of brass cased. I have read that Wolf and Tula have a larger diameter than the barrel and don't cycle well but have also read that they are no problem.I don't want to buy something that will be a problem. I sometimes use Tula in my handguns and have never had a proble!m with it. I welcome any and all opinions

I like (simple & reliable) ARs, so I have the .223 base covered, but I'm not a fan of AKs, so I chose the Mini 30 for the 7.62x39.

I mostly shoot brass cased ammo from Sellier & Bellot, but have also used zinc plated steel cased ammo from MFS... no issues.

from what you said in your post.... I'd go with the 14... many more choices in brassed ammo. The only advantage to the 30 is the cheap steel cased ammo... which if you read the manual... you should not shoot in the 30...

why buy a quality made in America rifle and then shoot cheap commie ammo in it?

That was my dilemma too but I went with the 223 since I have his big brother in a 30 caliber.
