I just was given a Mini 14 from a family member.
As I was attempting to fire it recently, it wouldn't slide closed to completely chamber a round. When I disassembled it, I noticed that the Gas Pipe Piston was out of place and it easily is installed and removed. I've watched several videos on disassembling it, but no one even mentions the Gas Pipe Piston. Should it be removable so easy? If not, how do I get it to stay in it's position with the ports lined up?
Thanks in advance for the help

The piston is supposed to be located (and held in place) by the gas port bushing....You'll have to disassemble the gas block to get to it. Make sure you have a good (USA-made) 9/64" Allen wrench before beginning...Hope this helps.
