Mini 14 carbine model?

There is a new mini 14 stainless/syn at a local shop that has a 16" barrel with no flash hider on it and I can't seem to find that model anywhere. Can someone help me with the model number on this one? It has a heavy barrel if that helps.

Sounds like a KMini-14/20-CP (Ruger model 5820). A GB in the catalog number would indicate the flash hider. Ask the shop owner to let you see the end of the box where the catalog number and model number information would be.

Is 5820 available to the public, or is it a law enforcement only model? I can't find it listed on the Ruger website or in the recent catalogs.

I believe that one was offered only to LE. But really, Ruger could have just as easily sent a few to normal distributors as overruns to LE or whatever. There really isn't that much about a Mini-14 these days that makes them restrictive, and I presume that Ruger only catalogs a few souped up models so that their line is somewhat standardized.
I would be interested to hear the results of that box label check though.
