Woke up this morning and went to the door and thought I was in Minnesota or Canada. It was 10 degrees with a wind chill of -4. International Falls, which is generally colder than a well digger's feet, was only 1 degree colder. I can honestly say that global warming is not happening here today.

-6ºF this AM...

All the way up to -1º at 11:12 AM Eastern...

Anyone that lives with cold knows 'wind chill' is meaningless...

"Real Feel" even more so...

Geeeee I wonder why normal weather patterns are being disrupted just like last winter while overall North America is warming?

North American Climate Patterns

Scroll down to figures 11 - 14.

btw, In Florida when I was growing up we had ice in the bird bath and Robins on every tree in January. Not so at all anymore.

Climate change, weather manipulation, global warming ....... Just another scam to tax the heck out of you.... I believe in this crap just like I believe Ol Jug Ears said I could keep my doctor, my plan and my costs would go down $2,500 per year.....

I posted the wind chill as information. When it is cold and windy one dresses for it OR stays inside. Wind chill actually is NOT meaningless. It is an indicator as to when frostbite will occur on unprotected skin. It is figured by calculating wind speed at an average height of 5 feet, the typical height of an adult human face, based on readings from the national standard height of 33 feet, typical height of an anemometer. It is based on a human face model. It incorporates heat transfer theory: heat loss from the body to its surroundings, during cold and breezy/windy days. Lowers the calm wind threshold to 3 mph. Uses a consistent standard for skin tissue resistance. Assumes no impact from the sun, i.e., clear night sky.

Yes, indeed. 12 deg. here in south Jersey this morning. And when I think about the summer with it's high-humidity 95 deg. temps, I'll gladly choose this weather. I'm lovin' it! :D

It was so cold, Hoss was chasing the cat and they were both walking...

Big deal! Last week poor Dawg had to get the jumper cables to start a rabbit so he could chase it! But, the good news is the Gurney's catalog is here so the true global warming is just around the corner. Except here in Indiana we call it spring.

Meanwhile, out in Daughter country:

Wonderful 60'S in sunny Northern AZ. Don't miss icy, freezing back east winters. There is no climate changing, just going back to normal snow & ice winters we had in the 60's back east. Maybe the cult of climate changers need to check the records before making a fool of themselves.

Are those REAL numbers AS MEASURED or the ones AFTER the global warming crowd got through "ADJUSTING" them as they seem to like to do any more.

Excellent question, CG. Let's all do this. Go to the NOAA.Gov, put in your zip code, copy the temp picture (pretty far down the page), and post it
along with your observed outside temp.

Ergo:

and what I see on the thermometer is: 10F. We're 25 miles West of Boston.

Well aware of how it is figured...

Machinery, and the planet do not give a rat's tuchus about windchill...

My cantankerous Jeep Cherokee does not care if it is 20º with a windchill of -5º...It will start fine...If it is actually -5º, starting is iffy...

As you pointed out, windchill is only relative to unprotected skin...Those of us that live with cold know that 'bare skin' is a 'bad idea', and hence...

Windchill is a meaningless number...
