All I can say is were it been me, there would have been 9 out of the 30 or so with ,45 cal bullet wounds ,and more if I needed to reload .
There's a code in the law that's called force of numbers, meaning that if your attacked by more than one person ,if their armed or not ,and that any REASONABLE. person would be in fear of great bodily harm or death that the use of deadly force to protect your self is justifiable.
From what I read and see in this instance this would apply.
BTW I don't care what skin color of the mob attacking me is ,at that point I'm in saving my own life mode .

one would "remember" who fired, and it would be YEARS before something
like that happened again.

I don't think it matters much which city is higher on the list than any other. What people need to understand is that no modern city, or even small town, is immune from this kind of thing. Today's world isn't Tombstone in the 1880's. Or even Chitown during prohibition. Today's cities/towns demand a level of situational awareness and home/personal protection more equivalent to Mogadishu than anything in the past. That's very hard for most people in the USA to come to grips with, but that is the reality of modern America. And it will get worse.

There's gonna be more shootin' and more people are gonna die.

Well spoken Gunny... The guy who they were beating up on exercised a LOT of restraint by NOT pulling his weapon. This could have gotten real ugly, and those gangbanger morons don't know how close some of them came.

I try to NEVER go to Baltimore at night and I NEVER go to West Baltimore or the Brooklyn area, for any reason, at anytime. I'm with Lou on this...someone would have hurt and if it had been me, there would have also been others. A 3400 lb car is an equalizer to 15 thugs.

No, they wouldn't think twice - they don't think at all; their little rat brain doesn't work that way. There would just be fewer of them.

From what I understand he wasn't carrying, but had his gun in the car.

My question is why were 30+ highschool kids loitering around that gas station? Most businesses don't allow loitering, especially in large groups. Did this incident interrupt something else they had planned, like maybe one of those mob robberies we hear about from time to time?

People do not fear the punishment they get for doing wrong,if there is any.
Community service,probation,and more probation for not paying there fines,there is not a lot of accountability anymore.
When you hear of someone who has committed a violent crime,after spending 8 years or less in prison for murder,what is there to fear from the law?
In the town near us,you see the same people on the inmate roster week after week,getting more probation.

That punk who was shot by a cop in Madison, Wisconsin a few weeks ago should be alive today; he was in court for armed robbery the week before he was killed. If the judge had put him in prison (like he should have), the punk would be alive. Instead, the judge gave him probation, and the next week, he's killed by a cop. I can't say I'm displeased with the outcome, however.

I really think "the Justice System" has been abandoned by the authorities. They know it isn't working, and hasn't worked for years. It's nothing more than a revenue stream for lawyers and the State, and has nothing to do with "Justice".

Hi ps,

For the most part in a rural area punishment is more likely for wrongdoing. Cities tend to have an overworked enforcement system and a greater concentration of criminals. Smaller towns tend to have LEO's that pretty well know who the troublemakers are and the time to watch them. Add to it, the residents are less likely to wait for the LEO's to come and save them and in general self defense is going to have less legal pitfalls. Of course your mileage may vary and void in White County.
