I picked up a slab sided MKIII Competition Model and had a couple boxes of the Remington Golden Bullet value packs around. Needless to say they don't fire very well. For some unknow reason 3-5 out of 40 will not even fire. It appears the firing pin isn't striking the rim of the casing hard enough.

I'm wondering what 22LR brands others are sing without issues?

As always thanks in advanceand I look forward to feedback.

IMHO (and a couple hundred others) Remington rimfire is the worst you can buy. Thunderbolt should be rammed down the throats of the genious's who make it.
Try CCI, it's MUCH better.

Used to be, the Rem Targets were the best inexpensive ammo in my MKII Govt Target. I would shoot them for practice, and Eley if I competed.

But I recently shot the CCI Blazers in the gray and black box - and they were impressive! Outshot the old Rem Tgts! All I am gonna buy for practice and might shoot comp w/ them as well.

Buy CCI products if you want reliable functioning at a reasonable price. Blazer, Std vel, and minimags work well. Federal, Rem Goldens, and winchester 333/555 seem to vary in quality, ok for plinking.

I shoot the federal champion (#510) and they have been 100% for thousands of rounds in my mkIII competition. Gander mountain has sales every now and then where you can get a brick for $17, but they are normally around $22ish.

I think I've had maybe 3 dud's out of 10K or so Federal value pack 550's bought at Wally World fired from my MKIII 22/45RP.

Another vote for CCI Min-Mag solids. Also had good luck with Federal 810's....about the same price as Mini-Mags...but more spendy than the Federal Bulk stuff though.

I've also read some good reviews on the Federal Auto Match.

CCI Blazer in the Blk/Gray box is the best I ever found that doesn't cost you the price of your next grand kid. I have had one failure in two years of competition shooting. I shoot plates and pins as often as I can.
