Manufacturing schedule?

Does anyone have any insight into Ruger's manufacturing schedule? I can't seem to find a good selection of Ruger double-action revolvers anywhere near me. I'd like to pick up a couple - a .357 Mag and a .44 Mag.

The well appears to be dry, and I was wondering when it would fill up again.

Yup. The factory called and said they're all set to build the two guns you want. They're starting them tomorrow. Honest!

This is my second try at this reply, because the first time I got the message that "the forum is temporarily unavailable".
I know from personal experience that the Ruger CEO IS a nice guy, because he DOES answer his emails. If you send him a nice message with your true needs (and where you are), he may tell you where in your area would be the best place to find what you want. He did so for me, and it worked. And he answered pretty quickly, and quite graciously, which goes far with me. Plus being able to get what I wanted not far away.
Good luck, both with Ruger, and with this forum, which "acts up" far too frequently.

I'm not asking for a special order. I just want to know when they will have some ready for dealers so I can check them out in person before buying.

I submitted an email to them, so I figure I'll hear back from them by the end of this week or early next week.

Who mentioned special order? Not me. I simply said that the CEO (I think Mike Fifer) was able to tell me who was most likely to have what I wanted in stock. And they did. And I went there, and it was good.

I have the feeling that a lot of us would like to know what Ruger's production schedule is. I also think it will be a cold day in Heck when they release that information to the public. We can at best make an educated guess as to when they are going to do more double-action revolvers. I would imagine that before the end of the year they will be shipping revolvers to their distributors, but that is just a guess.

I can tell you this, they are producing Alaskans right now. The test fire date was May 29, 2012. No idea how long or what will be next but i think they've caught up and are back and running at full tilt.

My test cartridge for my 4" Ruger RH is dated 2/2012.
Just in the last 2 weeks, I saw, at least, two 7.5" RH float by Bud's and they were gone in a day or so.

Here's a trick I use to try to get some visability into what's being manufactured and shipped. Go to the Davidson's website www.galleryofguns.com. Look up the particular firearm your are interested in and make note of the quantity. When ruger ships, Davidson's is large enough to get preferential treatment. Then figure a few weeks till stock begins to arrive at your LGS (except when it's a hot seller, then your LGS may wait for years).

Just checked their site, looks like they are sold out of all the double action revolvers. That is unusual, so I suspect they are bugging Ruger about revolvers.

Was told a few years back that on many of their models they use Lean production. It creates little to no back stock sitting idle like unlike older times.

I can tell you this, if there is a demand, it is in the schedule any being made weekly. How much of what depends on demand. When everything is in demand, everything is being made, and you have to get lucky to find what you want. Happy hunting.

Can't feel them before you buy them, but Bud's Gun Shop currently has some in and they can ship to your local dealer. Best thing to do is find a range to rent the models you are interested in, or find a buddy that owns some, then once you narrow it down, order them from Bud's or Davidson's, whoever has them in stock. I have a feeling it will be some time before Rugers are stocked in stores with any regularity.
