Well I had a slow morning this morning, and some scrap metal laying around the shop. So I decided to build me a pistol shooting target. Can't wait to test it out. Anyone else have some home made targets? Let see em' if you do.

Man, I wish I had a target like that. Nothing more satisfying than the sound of ringing metal when shooting. Beats the stuffing out of punching holes in paper. Instant gratification, I guess.

Ive made one VERY similar to that for my brother.. except I put a 3/8 piece of stainless on a 45degree angle on the back.. 9mm would go right thru it but it works great with a 10/22.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am real excited to try it out. I thought about making some kind of back plate for it, but then it would be too heavy to lug around. The size it is now I can throw it in the back of the truck pretty quick, and head out to shoot. I plan on after each shoot to spray the target with a little more paint so every time I go out I have fresh targets. I'll make sure to take pictures and give a range report upon testing it out.

good job - I might steal your plans & make one like it when I have one of those afternoons to kill. How big are those target plates? And how far away do you shoot them? any problem with ricochets?

Normally I shoot from 10 to 20 yards. I haven't shot at this target yet. I am hoping on Saturday I will have some time to do so. The left target is about 3.5" X 2". The center is 4"x6", and the right is 2.5X1.5... something like that. I didn't really measure them. I just had them laying around. Ricochets shouldn't be a problem where I shoot. I shoot about 10 miles out of town on government land where rarely I see anyone. I painted it the colors it is because it is what I had laying around.
