I saw an M77 RS Hollow Bolt in 7mm Rem Mag today at a shop. The stock wasn't in the best of shape, the exterior metal was extremely good, but inside the barrel was questionable. I could see a little rust inside the end of the barrel. Looking into the barrel there appeared to be corrosion/putting for about one quarter of the way from the breech end. I did not have cleaning supplies to run through the barrel. The serial number was 70-3xxxx and the price was $360. I might go back and see if I can run a bore snake through it...

I would think for that price it's worth it for the action. The stock can be stripped and refinished easily enough. And the barrel still might be a good shooter.

Thank you forthe replies.

The stock does not appear to be as bad as I first thought. Also, the manager let me run a bore snake through the barrel and it has some pitting but much better than I feared. I ended up getting it for $300 before tax. It has an old 6x fixed power Redfield scope on it as well.

Good deal! If you want to tackle a stock refinish they arent that hard unless the checkering needs to be touched up. Even then it isnt hard but good checkering tools arent cheap. I have done several and have it down now where you can't hardly tell my refinish from factory. But I usually go one extra coat and some buffing so they look better than factory.
