Is M193 ammo .223 or 5.56? I believe it is 5.56 but just wanted another opinion.

I read some data that it is 5.56 but the piece of paper, that was in the bulk package, reads "AIM 0.223 55gr Full Copper Jacketed Lead Core Boat Tail Brass Case Non-corrosive boxer primer.

I can use either 5.56 or .223 but would like to know exactly which caliber it is.

Confused

To be real m193 ammo, it should have the NATO + , manufacturer code, and year of production headstamp. Your AIm ammo sounds like commercially loaded m193 equivilent stuff to me. I just loaded 1000 rounds with WW 55 grain ball bullets in LC NATO unfired brass with Western powder with CCI primers. Nice ammo, but not M193 as produced by LC. Bob
