Here's a question I should probably know the answer too but am drawing a blank.

For the Low Back grip frame Six series double actions ….. were they all shipped in the "cut out" boxes or were some delivered in the more common black and red box?

Secondly ….. I have a couple red/black and yellow/black boxes missing end labels. Anybody have end labels they're willing to sell?

I believe some of the late low back Sec. series guns were shipped in the flimsy red and white hinged box.

From my research on the boxes for the Six series double actions:

The White box (with the cutouts) was used from 1970 to 1974.
The Red/White box was used from 1974 to 1975 (I do have examples that held some of my 150- s/n's)
The Red/Black box was used from 1975 to 1979
The Yellow/Black box was used from 1979 to 1988.

Hope this helps.

The main reason the die-cut interior white boxes went away was because the highback frame guns, which came along in the 150-9xxxx range did not fit properly in the cutout for the lowback frame. The above RDA86 is a 150-9xxxx lowback, so it would have fit the white box, but it wasn't shipped until 1977.
