About two years ago a man visited our church one Sunday morning. When I saw him I went over to him and introduced myself and we talked a little. He dressed in trousers and favored one of those Mexican wedding shirts, or is it Hawaiian wedding shirts? The type that was worn outside with a box tail, short sleeves, and pleats down the front. Sort of a rotund man, with a jovial expression. He watched me as I took up offering, greeted folks, and even asked me for advice a couple of times.

Well, we sort of hit it off, his last name was Canon, so I sort of dubbed him "Big Shot." He was a widower, and came a couple of times with a lady friend. Not too long back he suffered a heart attack, but survived and after a little recuperation, came back to church. He was not there every Sunday, but came often. I had invited him to join our congregation, and we talked about it several times, but he never did. I always enjoyed our chats, and he brightened my day many times. Hadn't seem in a couple of weeks.

Bob Canon died last week.

May "Big Shot" rest in peace .

Funny how friends come into our lives , some I wished I`d met sooner.

Time is a funny thing that tricks us all, when we`re young it seems to go so slow ,then when we`re older it goes to fast !!

But time spent with friends is time we will never forget .

The older we get the more time slips away...if we are not careful. Just have to make time for the things that matter.

Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend.

On the shirt, we call them guayabera, which means - I think - shirt for rotund man that cannot tuck in a shirt tail any longer. (I own several)

Sad news. Prayers for your friends family.

If he had any family, he never mentioned it. I believe I was about as close to family as he had.

The sad part about it to me is that he never was a menber of our church, and I never had any address or telephone number from him. And we, our church folk, never had any contact concerning his death.
