Loose ammo or trayed ammo?

What do you prefer, loose ammo rattling around in an ammo can or trayed ammo stacked in an ammo can?

I like zip lock bags. I store them in ammo cans.
One hundred rds. in each bag. Throw bags in range bag and off shooting we go

I hoard factory ammo by storing it (in the origonal boxes) inside ammo cans.
I store my reloads inside small freezer bags which are stacked in ammo cans.
I store empty brass by tossing it into ammo cans untill the can gets full.

The only ammo "trays" that I'm personaly familuar with were used by the British (RG) Ammo Plant for packing 7.62 NATO rounds into....you guessed it, ammo cans.
I always thought that the trays made the ammo "look better" inside the can but on the other hand, I can get more of the same-type ammo packed into the same can by stacking it in loose by hand....and if done right, it don't rattle either.

I use trays in ammo cans, usually the old cartons the original ammo came in. Labeled with the particulars of the load contained.

Hi,

I have about a third in plastic (MTM) boxes, a third in original or factory style cardboard boxes, and the rest in Ziploc type bags. Bagged ammo allows the most in the big ammo can, but boxed one way or another is easier to organize. Cardboard boxes take more space per given number of cartridges than plastic, but are easier to label on ends as well as tops, so I can figure out what's what if they're stacked vertically in the can.

I put almost all my re-loaded ammo into old factory ammo boxes (properly labeled) and store them separately away from my stash of factory ammo stored in 50cal ammo cans. No loose ammo. All powder and ammo is stored under climate control. 8) 8)

I store my reloads in the plastic MTM boxes or used factory boxes with label affixed as to the make up of that particular load. Usually keep 4-6 boxes on shelf and the rest stored in 50 cal ammo cans.

I'm not a big fan of plastic bags for ammo, they rip and tear. I do, however, use freezer grade plastic bags (gallon and quart size) for cleaned brass.

I use whatever I have. Old coffee cans, baby formula cans, ziploc bags, bulk fiber cans, plastic boxes, ammo cans..............

Everything gets a lable, but, well, see for yourself.............

Brass goes in gallon ice cream containers. Cast boolits go in three pound steel coffee cans. Loaded ammo goes in plastic coffee containers; generic in the big ones; specialized...for my pistol cartridge rifles...goes in one pounders. Load data is on a 3X5 card inside the container.

My revolver/pistol rounds (excluding 22 of course) are all stored in those cheap plastic 100 round boxes you can buy. Easy to see what I got, as each caliber uses different color box. I do have a few 50 round boxes that I use for miscellaneous like BP loads which I never have many loaded at one time.

I generally keep my rifle cartridges in the MTM cases. Handgun ammo usually goes into 30 cal ammo cans. Shotshells go straight from the press into a big box to be sorted later, they usually get sorted so all the same color go into the range bag.

Except for /223, I store centerfire rifle handloads in plastic 20 rd boxes inside ammo cans.
The .223 may go one of 3 ways. The good stuff gets a plastic 50 round box. The rest either goes into bulk storage(ice cream containers or ziplock bags) or stripper clips/bandoleers. All of the above in ammo cans.
Most handgun ammo goes into bulk containers sealed with tape.

Rifle ammo...............MTM, etc.

I use the Card Board Box and Styrofoam insert.They stack nicely in a Military Ammo Box.
