Lil-Gun in 44Mag

Hey folks,

I picked up a pound of Lil-Gun today as it was in front of my face and I couldn't turn it down.

Any body have any experience with this in 44mag with a 265 jacketed bullet?

Also, any experience with a 225 jacketed bullet would work too.

I've seen the burnt forcing cone stories...this is for a carbine and lever rifle.

Just seeing if I can improve on the 296/110

No experience here with Lil-Gun but I do shoot a lot of 44 mags in rifles and I would say that is the perfect application for that powder.

Hornady 9th Edition lists their 225gr FTX with LiL'GUN from 13.9gr (1300fps) to 20.9fps (1750fps).
Test firearm was an 18" Ruger Carbine and they trimmed the cases to 1.255" for those flex tips.

In the 44 magnum, Lil-Gun gives you higher pressures for the same loads in H110 until you get into really heavy bullets. There is a point where Lil-Gun gives less pressure reading than H110 when loading heavy for the caliber bullets past that point. That is why I never switched to it.

Check the Hodgdon website at www.hodgdon.com They list loads for Lil-Gun with a 270 gr 44 Mag bullet that you can use for your 265 gr bullets. From the Hodgdon site, Lil-Gun shows the highest velocity with that bullet weight, but also the highest pressure. Start low and work up and be safe!
