Sometimes you get lucky...
Even here in my neighborhood, an 87 deg F day on Nov. 10 is not quite right, so I headed up the hill to about 5500' to see if it was a little cooler at one of my favorite tiny lakes. Since Fall trout are sometimes out and about, I took fishing gear and a camera. I didn't know if the trout were already parboiled or not, but they weren't biting. However, there are a couple of resident pairs of mallards who usually stay there from Spring until the lake freezes over. One pair was cooperative in providing some entertainment for a while:
They stuck around until almost dark, when the trout started to wake up...
