Since the new procedure has been put in place and the $10 fee, I have not requested a letter and have heard some negative chatter about them. What can I expect to get from them. Will I get the month and year it was shipped???

"IF" you just fill in the standard form you will only get what is on that form. Recently I went through this process and they sent me incorrect info. While negotiating with that section to get a correct letter I was informed that if I wanted more than standard information I should also include a hand written note with the standard request asking for whatever extra info I desired. When I did get my new letter it included manufacture date and shipping date as well as model number. So, the extra info is available! Why do they not expand their on line form to include this other info? The person I dealt with did also tell me that Ruger was looking at changes to better address needs of collectors. We can only hope. David

I got a "letter" on my .480 Ruger Super Redhawk that said it was a Super Blackhawk! This was BEFORE the .480 Blackhawk was brought out.

Well, while those things should not happen, they sometimes do. I would attribute most of this to the fact that Ruger does not see clearly that collectors are a positive for their business. The folks who work in that section do so under circumstances which are not condusive to always providing proper and accurate information. Ruger needs to put more resources and money into providing info to collectors and to maintain their history as accurately as possible. The contact I had with the blue collar workers there impressed me. Just my thoughts. David

I have a Flattop Bisley 44spl. 4 5/8" The box says 5 1/2" Ruger said 5 1/2" I got a letter that says shipped as a 5 1/2" I called Ruger and they said lucky you :)
