I just added a new set of grips to my 4" .44 Redhawk, from the guy who sells on EBay. He does good work, he refinishes the factory grips with an oil finish and adds factory black Eagle medallions. They fit great, feel great........now I need to see how they feel with full house .44 Mags

The 4.2" is the one in the middle. In .45LC, it is easy to carry and when loaded to Redhawk acceptable pressures, pretty good protection against all creatures in North America. Of course I have not actually tried to kill a griz with it....perhaps that is why I am still able to post to this forum....8)

Nice set of Redhawks and a Super

I have wanted a 5.5" blue .44 for a long time now.....

What is that one on the bottom right? Looks like a bead blast finish? I like it!

Anyway, for those who are wondering what the 4" .44 is like under recoil with full house .44 Mags and the wood stock grips....it's actually not bad at all. I had been playing with the idea of putting the Pachmayr Presentations back on, but wanted to see how the gun handles with the woods.

To make some noise for Memorial Day, I went to my little backyard range and fired 6 MagTech .44 Mag SP's. For the first round, I held those wood grips with a death grip, waiting fot the brutal snap which was more of a sharp push. The following 5 rounds were pretty pleasant to shoot. If I had fired maybe 50 rounds I might start to feel the sting a little but it's far less than I had thought with those 6. Plus MagTech isn't the hottest .44 Mag around, but I can't imagine Black Hills or the other spicy stuff to be a whole lot worse.

I have to get myself a 7.5" SS .44 soon!

Stan, the pne on the bottom right is a SS gun that I had blasted with aluminum oxide. That one is my first Redhawk and has many thousands of rounds through it. It still shoots good though.

That aluminum oxide RH looks awesome too, has a nice look to it.

I am a DA Six and GP100 fanatic but I'm getting to love my two Redhawks more every day......I can already tell I'll be adding several more to my "pile" 8)

I already "need" a blue .44, preferably a 5.5" but I would happily take a 7.5" as long as it's not the Hunter.....don't like the scope mounts on the barrel. I did recently pass on a $550 blue 7.5" that was at one of my local "gun haunts" because it had the mounts. :? I guess someone else liked it, because a few weeks later it was gone.

I would also like a .41 of any flavor, and a 5.5" .357 to go with my 7.5" might be asking too much...

Basically I need one of each caliber made, a 7.5" .45 LC would make me pretty happy too

I've got only one and it's completely stock. I really like it as it has a better trigger right out of the box than my S&W 625 Performance Center. Guess I got lucky.

I think the RH's have excellent triggers, my 4" also has a smooth, even DA pull and a decent SA break. I don't have a lot of experience with Redhawks, and I was pleasantly surprised at how even the DA pull was when I got my 4" .44. It seems like Bill Ruger hit on a good idea with the single mainspring-rebound spring idea.

A lot of the S&W "die hards" slam the Rugers for "crappy triggers" but I have many Rugers with DA and SA that rival any S&W,and many that will outshoot any of my several S&W's. Believe me, I have my share of Smiths with garbage stagy uneven DA pulls and creepy SA breaks, too.

I don't even really look at S&W's in any caliber above .38 Special........for the big bores and magnums I only go with Rugers.

Heck, I'm at the point now where I hardly even look at S&W's anymore, the last few gun shows I went to I had Ruger wheelgun "tunnel vision" 8)
