Would love to have $1 for every ad on GB, GA and Armslist that states the firearm for sale has less than 100 rounds thru it.

And another $1 for every Ruger that's "reported to be unfired with only a light turn ring". .

I saw a Sig on another forum with the description "shows a few drop marks typical of a carried gun". I thought WHAT!!??

lol. And I've seen some postings stating the revolver is "new" with light turn ring.
I never buy any guns via the mail.

I really like the ones where it's a newer short barrel 44 magnum like a 4 5/8" Super Blackhawk...current vintage...with one box of factory ammo and 6 rounds missing....Someone made a mistake.

I'd bet that a LOT of Smith & Wesson 500s, and similar recoil challengers, have WAY less than 100 rounds through them.

Hi,

One of the salesmen at a now defunct LGS worked as a pistolsmith in our shop during my days at the range. Long before the .460s, .480s, and .500s came out, he said there were tons and tons of .44 Mags out there whose original owners probably never finished their first box of ammo. My Redhawk came from his shop, used. I'd agree with him that mine was most likely one of them.

But I doubt if I'd trust such a claim in online advertising if I couldn't see the gun first...

And all the Single-Six's that are "flattops".

I once bought a used Super Blackhawk, and when I took it to the range I found it was hitting high and to the right.
The sights had been adjusted to compensate for the guy's flinch.
I doubt that he fired it too many times before selling it.

I've bought more than a few "new" or "used" on line and have no regrets yet! Also have more than a few that have no more rounds fired than when I bought them! More guns than time!--- bedrockfred

But brfred, these are gun guys...they like to think that everyone is trying to pull something on somebody. I honestly have never seen the beat for how curious gun guys are. Always hunting a booger... This propensity of so many gun enthusiasts to think everyone is a crook or trying to screw someone, is the thing that takes more away from this interest, for me, than anything else.

I sold a S&W, Model 696, .44 spl. last year to a Smith board member...
it had been fired only 15 times.. I bought it new in 1997.

I was thinking the same thing last time I was on Armslist how all these clowns always list under a hundred round count, and just what does round count prove anyway?

if your buying a used Blackhawk or something 5 rounds fired or a thousand aint going to make any difference long as the guns been cared for and in overall good condition, not like putting some rounds through it is going to wear it out any time soon, guess they are trying to get more money out off you if you think the gun has been fired less.

Well, to me it means the pistol shouldn't show or have much wear, if any, from handling to holster wear.
The S&W 696 I bought new and sold was a "house gun" and stayed in the headboard of the bed untouched for years at a time. The 696(no dash) became a collector gun and with the price moving up.. it was replaced.

But, wouldn't you like to have a '70 Hemi-Cuda with 2,000 miles on it, like new... or one with dings and 200,000 miles on the odometer!?

I have several guns that have less than a hundred rounds through them. My shooting is cyclical, sometimes I buy guns at the end of one of these cycles and only fire a few shots through them before I move on to something else. I have my Mom and Dads hunting rifles and know that both have had less than a box shot through them over 50 years of use. They hunted more for the fun of getting out in the woods and camping than caring if they filled their tag. They weren't recreational shooters so the guns were sighted in and they were satisfied. Maybe if the libs get their way and start mandating "smart" guns they will include an "odometer" to keep track of the guns "mileage".
