Wanted to get some range time with my carry gun LCR 38 and also my LCR 22 so I invited a buddy to come along and test fire his Beretta PX9 compact. He has been carrying it for years, but it's never been fired. Both my revolvers shot flawlessly as expected through 150 rounds of fire; while his Beretta suffered jam after endless jam.
I guess the aim of this short story is know your firearm; its capabilities as well as deficiencies. And, always carry a revolver!

What an idiot.

Not sure I'd trust him to be safe at the range or anywhere else. He sure wouldn't be my shooting buddy.

I know, I know but I stayed behind him a good deal and I really think he learned something. Now he wants to join my club and go to the range more frequently; he knows he needs practice, and he bought himself a smith 442 a couple weeks ago which seems to work fine. That's what he will now carry.

Good for you AND him!

I'm overly cautious but need to put a few hundred rounds through a gun before I trust it and know I shoot it well.

It's good to get someone shooting, regardless if they are new to the sport or not.

What LCR are your shooting? My dad wants an LCR to carry. I don't have one but showed him a few competitors in size like the SP101 and a bearcat (yes i know not the same at all) but looking at them on the inteweb he really liked them (LCR that is)

But which caliber do you have?

Edit: never mind, I just saw.... a 38... from your original post....

Actually I have A couple; I swap between 327 and 38 for carry. 38 is lightest, but my favorite has to be 327 .....six rounds of potent ammo plus I have a Crimson Trace Green laser. The slightly larger grip helps with recoil although the Federal Hydrashocks I carry do have lower recoil.

I had a 9mm LCR but honestly I just couldn't love it like the others, so I sold it.

FYI the friend I took shooting is from the UK and had guns there but then they were taken. You're only allowed to own one shotgun either double barrel or with an insert that allows only two rounds. He's an American citizen now and enjoying our freedom. God bless America!
