I am seriously considering an LCR to add to my stable. My preffered method of carry is pocket carry. I can easily pocket carry my LCP in all clothing. I have a harder time pocket carrying my LC9 because of the added size and weight.

I often wear workout/sweat pants and shorts that have elastic waste bands so that is where the extra weight issue comes into play. When I'm wearing pants/shorts with a belt the weight issue really isn't much of a problem.

Soooo...My real question is how easy is the LCR (38+p) to pocket carry? I want the 38 version because those extra 4 ounces in the 357 version can make a big difference in the pocket.

Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Can anyone tell me the weight of the standard LCR when loaded?[/

Seems too bulky to me (the grip is fairly wide as is the cylinder). I prefer on the belt while leaving my shirt-tail out.

I carried the LCR in a Mika pocket holster for over a year. So long as the pockets are deep enough, I haven't had a problem.

I've recently gone to a Hide-It holster. I really like it, but now have to change-out the grip, because there's too much friction when trying to draw.

I think I'm going to try the eagle grips, and hope I can handle the recoil

Mine is 15.9 oz loaded. I carry in right front pocket; not an issue with khakis or loose jeans. I agree with above post - just gotta be sure pockets are deep enough.

I too enjoy my basketball shors and sweats as much as anybody...

I have an LCR .38 model with boot grips... Blackhawk pocket holster does fine in regular pants... I also have a cheap uncle mikes holster that i can carry easy and comfortable in m basketball shorts.

Perfect for grocery store run quick errands.

The lcp is much smaller and lighter for a pcoket though.

As others have said, it just depends on the pocket. On blue jeans, it's kind of tough. On some slacks and non-denim shorts, it's pretty easy. The bottom line is it's very doable, but it will limit you some as to what you wear.

I had to switch to the boot grip for pocket carry both for size of the grip and the stickiness of the standard grip. Loaded with speer gold dot 135 +P it is 15.5oz and 17.3oz with a desantis nemesis.

My primary CCW is a pocket-carried .38 LCR. The family now has three--one each for my wife, daughter, and me. To get the third one, I traded two stainless S&W 649's even for the new LCR. The steel J-frames were too heavy for pocket (and I'm told, purse) carry.
I have large (XXL glove) hands and increasingly arthritic fingers and anything smaller than the standard LCR grips are too small for me.
As you might guess, pocket carry in blue jeans or any slim cut pants are a non-starter. Cargo pants/shorts with deep pockets are perfect.
For holster carry, I generally go with something larger (SP-101, GP-100) because I have Crimsom Trace grips on those. Alas, the Crimson Trace grips for the LCR are about the same size as the factory boot grips and are too small for me.

IF you have drawstring closure, as well as elastic, you will be okay for walking around. That's until you start getting physically 'active', then I think having it flopping around on your thigh will be cumbersome.

I have some 'hyrbrid' shorts that are just a bit more substantial then the standard athletics. They have a drawstring, 'regular' pockets, and belt loops. Dont' know if you've ever seen that, but they do exist.

Either way, I would darn sure reinforce the pocket liner with the knee patches.
