Has anyone Removed the Cylinder and Grip Frame from the Cylinder Frame for Cleaning? I always like to do a good cleaning from the Factory but I have already shot 200 Rds thru it and have not cleaned it yet. Any in and outs or is it that difficult..............................................

Ruger says not to remove the grip frame/ fire control housing unless factory trained personnel. Never seen such a warning on anything Ruger made. So I figure I don't want to be the first one to figure out why they say that.

To clean mine I just pulled the grip and sprayed it really well with gun oil. Wrapped it in paper towel and let the excess oil drip out. I let it sit over night. I then sprayed out as much as I could with canned air. Seems to have worked fairly well. Got some debris out but not much.

I suppose you could spray it with synthetic safe gunscrubber as well followed by oil. But I have heard the synthetic safe gunscrubber might discolor some polymer. Don't want to find out if that is true.

I kind of did what Mike7mm08 did except I used Gunzilla.

No need to add gun oil after blowing out with air as Gunzilla is cleaner/lube combined. I use it because it's easy on my lungs & is easy on the hands too. Doesn't attract dirt either.

Clean gun is a happy gun!
