LCR breaks. Again. First time after factory "fix."

Ruger sent the LCR back a few months ago. Promised it would provide many many many more rounds of trouble-free shooting. That LCR sat in the safe all this time; my BUG duties were handled by another 38 special.

Took the LCR out today. Loaded up with 130 grain Winchester. Click. Times five. Nothing. Took shells out. Replaced with another 5. All five went off.

Put fresh set of 5 (not the original 5). Two went off.
Next reload series had 3 go off.

Put that first 5 back in. All 5 went off.
Next new series. One went off.

LCR is going back to Ruger today. I'll post any improvements after they send it back.

So far so good. They are paying for UPS pickup; last time was on my dime.

The rep said my letter should request a reimbursement for the first send-back.

The customer service rep also said a brand new LCR Crimson Trace would be sent as opposed to trying and fixing this lemon again. But who knows what will actually come back.

I must say that I was initially unimpressed by the LCR because of looks. Now that I've read several stories of guns that won't fire, I am unimpressed because of unreliability. After the LCP recall, I think I am beginning to see a trend. Unfortunately.

The trend is you're hearing about it. Look into how many recalls S&W has had, you'll be surprised.

At least a lemon will give me results each time I squeeze it.

I'm a big SW fan, but I know anything mechanical can break. I won't waste my time Googling about any 642 issues. I did read about Ruger's recall reputation, and was hoping to buck the trend.

Sorry to hear about the problems with your LCR. Normally Ruger gets it right when they service a firearm. My LCR has been trouble-free... I hope that yours will be too when you receive it back from Ruger.

Sorry to hear your LCR is giving problems. Give Ruger a chance to get it right or request another gun. I kind of like them.

So far I've been pleased with my LCR. My biggest problem is the shooter (me). I've fired about 250 rounds of 130 gr Winchester FMJ, with no hiccups -- shoots a tad low at 25 yd.

I find that Monarch 158 gr is "on the money" at 25 yd.

I've not yet had a "failure to fire". I've tried Remington 130 gr FMJ (nasty load, almost +P muzzle energy), Magtech 158 gr LRN, Magtech 148 gr lead wadcutters, Winchester 125 gr JHP +P, and Monarch 158 gr (both SJFP & SJHP).

Same here on no problems. I have fired about 500 rds through it with no issues.
Ruger will take care of the issue. Hope the next one is a diamond.

You must have a lemon and I am sorry. Been through this before with another gun.

I have both the LCR & LCP and have fired many rounds through both with no malfunctions or problems.

I hope all goes well and keep us all informed on your progress!
