LCR 22

Well i finally got some time to go shoot a few guns i have acquired. The LCR ive had for a little over a month and have been wanting to shoot it.

I tried a few longer shots, 12-15 yards and they didnt go as well as planned. I scooted up to about 7 yards and shot a little bit. The gun wqs very fun to shoot. It will take some time to get accustomed to the trigger pull, but it was a pretty decent trigger pull, not as good as my LCR 38 though.

For what i got the gun for it will do fine... carry in a backpack camping, fishing, light weight trailgun, and a gun to shoot for fun.


I did encounter some extraction problems though, which ive read people having issues. They werent to serious but had to give the ejector rod a brisk tap to get them out. On one cylinder i did have two cases stuck in there and get beneath the rod. Had to take the knife out of give them a litttle help.

Overall the gun will be fun. I only had time to put about 50 rounds through it so there will be many more to come.

Turn the muzzle to the sky when you eject the rounds and they will stop getting stuck under the extractor. Gravity sucks!!! LOL!

This helps keep the 22 crud out from behind the extractor too.

Ok, this is just my 2 cents;

I think extraction problems are normal with all .22 revolvers. The more rounds in the gun, the bigger the extraction issue - because there's more friction. 6 rds in a gun = less issue, 8, 9 or 10 rounds = bigger extraction issues.

Again, just my 2 cents; but I'm pretty sure that's why the single action Ruger revolvers consistently sell so well - because (if you're experience is like mine) you realize you need the 'ramrod' feature of the single action types.

Everything else in a .22 is a semi-auto

I read somewhere that this was the reason the SP and the LCR are not planned to be made in 22 magnum. Ruger was reportedly concerned with headaches from the extraction issues with 8 22 mag rounds

Oh yeah the extraction issue i dont have a problem with, kind of come with the territory of .22 revolver.

I was surpised to have had the issue of the cases getting stuck under the extractor though. But that was when my buddy was shooting it and he didnt use the assistance of gravity to help dump the cylinder.

But im pleased with the gun it was fun to shoot and i will put a lot more rounds through it

I've noticed Remington yellow jackets are a little tough to extract and I've heard the same thing about stingers. Standard velocity stuff extracts super easily in my experience.

When I was shooting some of the aguila velocity rounds the trigger pull became really hard after the 5th pull and to eject the rounds you had to hit the rod really hard with the palm of your hand. This was the first time I shot this gun...I did put an xs night sight on it.
