LC9 extractor flush?

Is the extractor on your LC9 flush?

If you don't own an LC9 please don't vote. This is only for those who own an LC9, not those who have only handled one or seen it in pictures.

Mine is not flush and when I spoke to a Ruger rep she said that it is not supposed to be. But here on the Ruger forum I read of people who said that theirs is flush. Are they mistaken or are there already changes being made to the LC9 design?

The extractor on mine is flush with the frame...that is, it doesn't protrude and is even with the frame. It also fits into the channel with no gap at the rear.

I will post a couple pictures also when I figure out how to do it. I did stop off at the gun store about the extractor and was told that it's normal and they showed me one that was on display and it was the same way. I really hope I didn't make a mistake buying this gun. It just seems weird that some are and some are not flush but right now it looks like the majority is not flush.

That just stuck me as funny...like Clinton's definition of "is."

When I say mine is flush, I can run my thumb downward or upward across the frame, passing over the extractor, and not feel a raised area. I can feel the edges of the extractor where they meet the frame, of course, but they don't feel any higher than the surrounding frame.

I am going to try to take a picture of my LC9.

If you run your finger down the frame of the pistol you can definetly feel where the extractor is because it is not flush.

The ones with flush extractors are TALO special editions. Those that are not flush are just the plain vanilla models.

I was joking about the flush extractor being a "special" or TALO edition.

Mine too looks "weird" almost like its backwards (meaning the back end stickd out andup a little).
I have had NO problems at all with my LC9.

I have 600 rounds through mine with only on FTF so the extractor isn't a problem. I am just curious about those LC9s that are reported to have flush extractors. From pictures online it is incredibly hard to tell whether it is flush or not.

Any more legitimate votes would be greatly appreciated.

Below are pictures of my LC9's extractor. All are with the pistol unloaded. With pistol loaded, the extractor front hook end is pushed out. This makes the body of the extractor paralell with the slide however still not flush. I would like to see pics of one that is flush.

My extractor also looks the same and I think that is what most people's do as well.

If anyone has one they think is flush please post a picture.

I just got mine back from Ruger today (Front Sight problem...), and my Extractor looks EXACTLY like Mohawk's pics above.

BTW, Ruger replaced my Slide, and did a 21 Round Test Fire to make sure it works. No problems noted.

Now I've gotta get it to the Range Wednesday, and see how it does for me.

Here is a picture of mine...I took some pictures from the top, looking down on the slide, to show that the extractor does not protrude out to the side, but I just couldn't get them to come out (too blurry.) I hope you can see from this one that mine sits flush, because it does...when you run your finger across the slide and over the extractor, you can feel the channel, of course, but there is no height difference, if you follow me.

I just picked mine up late yesterday afternoon. Mine is pretty close, but isn't quite flush. In fact where it does sticks out a little at the top it's pretty darn sharp. But I have zero complaints and really like this gun. I've shot a box of S&B and a box of Remington with no issues over the 100 rounds. It seems very, VERY accurate - and the empties are thrown quite a distance too.

Well, the test fired shell envelope is dated 1/28/2011...I don't know where that falls in the production schedule. I know that doesn't necessarily mean the exact date it was made, but isn't it usually pretty close?

This is a new gun The date on the factory round is 04/30/2011
I measured the height of the extractor with a digital vernier caliper

,003" lower than flush at the front
.003" higher than flush at the rear
.040" gap at the back
That is about as flush as I think you will find in a factory fit

Only 50 rounds fired thru this gun to date - no problems
Will have a stainless guide rod installed in about 10 days
Let you know how it works.
