Last week was a good week for me and 22 rimfires. A guy mentioned he had a revolver for sale. He said it was a Hi Standard Sentinel. I went to look at it and it turned out to be a JC Higgins Ranger. These were made by Hi Standard for Sears back in the 50's. It's a Double Nine with some subtle changes. Different cylinder pin, nickeled backstrap, black checkered grips, grey parkerized frame and a blued cylinder and barrel. It's a rather handsome gun and in great condition. Picked it up at a good price too.
Then a friend of mine offered me a 4 inch tapered Mark I. Needed a grip screw replaced and showed some light wear, but a very honest pistol at a great price. I bought it and one of our forum members (Highstandardguy) is already supplying me with the replacement screw that I needed. It came with one magazine and I'd like to have another one. Highstandardguy said a Mark II or a Ruger Mark I replacement will work and I'm guessing they are available from Ruger.
So all in all it's been a good rimfire harvest for me the last couple of weeks. Just thought I'd let you all know, they're still out there and sometimes they still show up.
