Hey there, I recently purchased the Ruger LC9 as my very first handgun - so I'm brand new to the handgun world. A friend of mine (who's a cop) helped me pick it out, and is showing me a lot of gun safety tips. I plan on getting my CHL soon so that I can carry with me more than just my home and car (I'm in Texas, btw).

Anyways, to the main topic of my question ... I want to get a good leather inside the waistband holster for my LC9 and I've narrowed it down to one from TheHolsterStore.com and a Kusiak Leather one ... One accessory that I really want to get is the LaserMax red dot laser, but I won't be getting it for a while (Amazon has them for about 80 bucks), I'll be saving up to get one later on down the road. However, I don't want to get a holster for my LC9 now and then when I get the LaserMax, have to get a new holster ... So I was wondering if I ordered a holster that has room for the LaserMax, but use it now without the laser attachment on my LC9, will it still fit my pistol good? Or will my LC9 be too loose inside the holster?

Like I said, I'm new to the gun world, so I'm just trying to understand a lot of stuff associate with my new purchase. Thanks in advance (and thanks for your patience with this noob)!

Why do you want a laser? Since you are new I don't recommend at a laser because it will make you a lazy shooter. By lazy I mean you will be relying on the laser to acquire your target instead of your gun sites. The biggest issue with laser is people become too reliant of them and if the time ever came to where your laser didn't work most people wouldn't know how to properly acquire a target with sights on their gun. If you don't have a real "NEED" for a laser, skip it and save the money. Learn how to use your gun sights properly and you'll be good to go.

I have an LC9 with the lasermax and I practice at an outdoor facility where the red beam from the lasermax is not visible in the bright sunlight. So I practice with the iron sights. I practice dry firing with the lasermax at home, with pistol unloaded of course.

Back OT: I use a pocket holster from the TheHolsterstore and it works very well. As to using one made for the lasermax without the laser attached I would think you could cut a piece of styrofoam or something to fit in the holster where the laser would normally fit as a place holder until you can order your laser sight.

I plan on practicing with both laser sight and iron sight. Obviously until I get the laser (which will be a while) I will only be practicing with the iron sights. Simply because I have the laser attachment doesn't mean I'll be using it all the time, only when/if necessary. I just feel it's a good thing to have, just in case.

Awesome, thanks for the tip! I didn't think about putting something there as a place holder, but that's definitely a good idea.

Sorry not to harp on it but "just in case" what? I don't know of a senerio where you will need a laser to be able to shoot your target. It's your money, spend it how you want, just saying can you really think of a senerio where you going to need to use a laser to aquire your target?
