Laser Bore sight for .223?

I have a new scope on an AR15...can't afford the luxury of burning ammo to sight it in....I have a magnetic laser sight from Wheeler Engineering but if it is not perfectly centered on the barrel crown there is a big error at 50 yards- and, in any sun I can't see the laser. Not my best purchase to be sure. Any suggestions? I see them at Midway for <$30....burn that pretty quickly at today's ammo prices. Thanks in advance. Ned

do it indoors, compensate elevation for the short "range" and sight heigth

My gun dealer, inside his shop, set my red dot and no fired round adjustments needed

thank you Sir, if the scope and red dot agree at 25 yards indoors than at 50 yards I will be a little low and so on out to my personal max of 100 yards....

When bore sighting an AR, you must take into account the difference in height between bore line and optic. I just finished zeroing a couple of scopes on AR carbines and this is how it went: I used a laser bore sighter and one scope was aligned R/L and about 2.5" above the laser beam @ 25 yards. The other was aligned R/L and right on the laser beam vertically(basically the crosshairs quartered the laser beam.
The POI of the scope set centered R/L/vertical was a full 8" high at 100 yards(actually hit the target above the one aimed at). The POI of the scope allowing for the 2.5" scope height differential was at the bottom of the 2" aiming point(1" below dead center of the correct target).
