Krags

Doing a bit of security work this weekend. For those that have wanted a Krag and found them few and far between, your prayers are answered. A consignment came in months ago, half are gone with the remainder going, going, gone on Sunday. I am not an expert on them, nor even looked at most of them, but appears many are stock and a goodly amount have been shortened, sporterized. All have the buttery smooth action.
Many are not expected to draw a set amount, so they will start that bidding at $1.
They have many ways to bid phone, computer, in person or just give them an amount not to exceed. Follow along or throw out a number, there are maybe 50 Krags along with many, many others.

Interesting site...........but it would appear that someone's finger got stuck while typing descriptions. Most all of the M1 Garand's are listed as "bolt action".......but it's still a nice site to browse thru. 8)

As long as its based on the Krag case, reasonably well. Before you try it though, read what P.O. Ackley has to say about the Krag. Trying to hot rod one will likely shear off the single locking lug and possibly crack the receiver. They work very well in the original chambering; not necessarily so in other chamberings.

Supposedly Eskimo's like Krags because if you remove the trigger guard (held in place with two screws) you can operate the safety, load and fire while wearing mittens.

Well I wasn't going to bid on these rifles, I just wanted to give everyone a chance at them. I wasn't looking at a historically correct specimen just a shooter. Adding in that nasty, despicable , huge premium, I picked one up for $162.50.

Good for you. I saw lots of Krags in the offerings. I observed the 94 22's as well............second session and not phone bids, so the **** with it. Old enuf and have almost enut.............oh well, not quite............ 8)

Picked up my Krag today. It has a tip off scope mount, outfitted with a Weaver K6, steel tube scope, manufactured in El Paso.

Nice buy Ron. Many old timers I knew up in Northern NM and So. Colorado favored the 30-40 Krag for mule deer, bear and elk. The Weaver K4 and K6 scopes steel tube scopes made in El Paso were very high regarded by the old hunters and hunting guides as well.

Here's a sporterized Krag that I bought for $42.50 in 1962 when I was 13. Payed for it with my strawberry picking money. Still looks like the day I bought it..... My son now owns it and is now a family heirloom, but still hunted with....

THERE are two KRAGS sitting on the shelf of one of my LGS. Not too bad shape atall. They've been there for years now.
I got my two already....a 1898 carbine who's receiver sights were put on by John Redfield....and ....another.
And so it goes...
